I don’t want to dignify this question by answering it. My inner instincts retaliate at this question, uncalled for. I believe that the question is unworthy of for a man of my perspicacity and pragmatism. Questions: questions that are inconceivable, inexplicable and incredibly enigmatic.
Let us make a sensible endeavour to try and contemplate the origins of god. Who create d god & why in the first place the people of this planet felt the need to create god.5000 years prior to now, there was total chaos and confusion among the people. I presume that the reader is aware of the fact that mankind is just 5000 years old, whereas our planet is 5000 billion years old. Back then, there was this creature with a bent spine .The grass around it was much taller than him. This creature had 2 hands and 2 legs, but had no assistance whatsoever from his body to satisfy his needs. Tiger had claws and was strong, elephant was gigantic, hyena had an incredible power to sniff, snake had venom, crocodile had jaws, but this creature had no feature in his body that could have provided him an initial fillip to attack another creature. Let alone attacking another creature, he had such a diabolically ill luck that he could not defend himself from other creatures. His ears were not as powerful as that of a dog’s were, his eyes were not as powerful as that of an eagle’s were. His legs were not as powerful as cheetah’s were, and more than anything he had a bent spine and the trees, small thorny bushes, and even grass was taller than him, he had no sense of the creature behind him or beside him and he invariably tried to survive this rapid confrontation from other creatures, he was dejected and despondent, his morale was low. This suffering and this frustration made him think. He then started thinking. He tried to look over the length of the grass and in trying to do so, his bent spine started straightening. This straightening of the spine didn’t happen overnight, it actually took some thousands of years and in the meantime he realized he had the power of thinking, the power to speak and communicate which no other creature had.
On this planet, creatures that were receptive to the changes and that changed accordingly invariably survived. This creature changed to satisfy its need, a need to live; a quest to live made him survive. All the hard work of confronting other creatures, confronting the environmental changes for thousands of years finally paid for him, in a sense that he survived, where as many other creatures which evolved along with him at the same time got extincted because they just couldn’t survive this confrontation from all the sources (Animals, environment). This creature learned from its history. He knew that the only means to survive is to communicate and develop a language and a sense of trust among themselves.
This creature of our discussion is what today we know with the name of man. But then, there are always bad men and good men. The ability for a man to think helped him in surviving through the changes in atmosphere; his skin started growing hair in those private parts, which were sensitive to cold. His fingers grew a bit longer which assisted him in holding weapons. There changes thus converted the extremely vulnerable creature on this planet into a decent creature, which could defend itself, given the circumstances. But he was not invincible, because there was one power that he could not come to terms with, the power of universe; there were earthquakes, valconic eruptions, forest fires, etc…
As I said, there were bad men along with good men. These men were invariably strong, these men ventured into areas that were not theirs. They some how figured out that killing a man with deceit is easier than killing any creature with a weapon. These bad men calculated that men were susceptible to deception like no other creature did, because man can think and can think what is beyond the obvious. Women being the weakest of this genre of creatures were the most affected. They were the victims of man’s insatiable quest for sex; they were the victims of promiscuous sexual philanderers, victims of love, lust and hatred. The strongest men enjoyed their strength while the weakest suffered.
Man, not knowing that this entire imbalance in man’s nature was a part of their growth process as an individual, started panicking; the weaker men were getting paranoid and hysterical. The environment was hostile. The weakest lived under the constant threat of the stronger and lived under constant and allegorical intimidation.
This led to an emotional turmoil in man. The symptoms of malaise in the fellow men prompted Man to create a fear among all the men, a fear that is above all. A fear that is supernatural, a fear that is above the fear that men are acquainted with, a fear that man even in his dreams cannot contemplate the desire to defeat. A fear that is inconceivable, a fear that is incredibly enigmatic, a fear that was never heard of. The fear of ‘god’.
Man successfully infiltrated the fear of god. Even the strongest of men were scared of god because this fear was above them, this fear had no form, this fear had no boundaries, this fear had its control over atmosphere, and all the creatures on this planet, this fear was invincible, yes ‘INVINCIBLE’. This fear that man called ‘god’ was successful in settling down the paranoia among men, settling down the chaos and confusion among men.
1000-2000 years down the line, after the inception of god, i.e, 4000 years prior to now, man was well equipped and was capable enough to defend himself from other creatures and the worst part of this time or period was-he had time to think. Then men started dubious interpretations of this sane entity called ‘god’. They started giving this enigmatic entity a form, a form that they well acquainted with.
That’s it. Man gave god a form. As the communication among men was primitive, there was no one form of god. There were many forms. They came in different sizes, forms, different complexions, different dimensions, and also they served different purposes. This actually led man into a habit of assuming every force of nature that was inconceivable as ‘god’. This incorrigible birth of god from the incorrigible assumption of man paved way for a concept called spirituality.
Any force and every force that had power was called god and was given a form. Rain, Wind, sea, sun, and land are just some of the examples. Man cannot control rain, so then came rain god and man started appeasing the rain god to try and control rain. Man cannot control sun, so then came the sun god, man appeased sun god and expected favours in return.
The worst part of our acquaintance with god is that man at times of dejection and despondency prays to god and expects miracles to happen. A child today is trained to pray for god at all the times. As the child grows up, so does the acquaintance of the child with god.
‘The concept of god’ is so entrenched in the men that they prefer living with the false hope of a supernatural thing called god who saves them from the demons. 5000 years prior now, when man put forth the idea of god, he expected all the men (successors) to consider god as a yardstick and gauge themselves accordingly. The concept of god professes that the closer to the ideas of an ideal man makes you closer to god, closer to yourself, closer to your instincts. Judge yourself accordingly, the yardstick available is god.
To help men understand ‘the concept of god’ more clearly, back then men wrote epics (Ramayana, Mahabharatha), sacred books about god (Bible, Khuran, Geetha). The idea behind this being that the yardstick ‘god’ was rather confusing, inconceivable and enigmatic. So, the characters in the epics were made clear. These characters professed ideas, which would be clear to all the men, and these ideas invariably resulted in peace and harmony among people. The ideas professed by the characters (Rama, Krishna, Jesus.) proved to be pretty good in bringing harmony among people. But unfortunately a child today is brought up to appease these characters and not to the entity-‘god’. Men now make temples for these characters, offer gifts to these characters, pray these characters, appease these characters, and there has been a growing niche of people who are making money out of this, who talk bullshit, exaggerate and emblazone characters of these epics for their own advantage, these people who make their livelihood out of this, confuse other people about the existence of supernatural power, when all that men 5000 years prior to now wished to create was a fear that is common to all the men, a fear that is invincible, unfortunately they even in their displeasure would not have contemplated the horror of the dubious interpretations of god.
In writings like this, readers always confuse themselves as to where author stands on this topic. For me, god is just a figment of imagination created by deluded people. I personally despise people who pray god. It’s my wishful thinking that people consider praying god as just an "emotional experience".
I’ am not a religious person. I have more respect for people who change their views on encountering new facts than those who remain intransigent and prefer living with a false hope that god exists.
